Love black distressed. I have several Pottery Barn (yes paid those outrageous prices) pieces however they have been moved several times and look wonderful. I am going to tackle my solid oak table and chairs ($60!) with General Finishes stain soon to match the black PB hutch. Thanks for always inspiring

Does anyone have a hard time with black chalk paint and the wax?? My pieces are ALWAYS very streaky. I’ve tried EVERYTHING and it always looks very mottled and streaky. I’ve sanded and waxed, waxed and sanded… Changed recipes, more Wax , less wax and nothing is making it better!!! Black is my FAVORITE color on furniture and I’m so frustrated!! Any advice??
Kandice says
Jackie, I don’t use wax on any of my pieces. I seal my black pieces with a black sealer, easily applied with a sponge or brush. Easy peasy and no buffing 🙂 I use Jett or Ebony (both found in my online shop http://www.justthewoods.com/shop-paint/ )

I may need to look into getting stronger reading glasses. I misread your Google headline for this post as, “The Best Dressed Black Furniture Makeovers.” LOL I thought ‘best dressed furniture’ was clever so I clicked… and I wasn’t disappointed. I love all of these furniture makeovers. Every piece is very well-dressed, indeed. ~ Kristi Kirk Trent, Oklahoma City
