Ingredients Tips
When choosing meat, quality matters. When it comes to both the pork tenderloin and the bacon opt for quality pork. Look for organic pork from small, regenerative farms, which you can easily find online. I get all of my pork, bacon, and other meats from Crowd Cow. They even ship right to your doorstep. If you decide to go for grocery store meat, make sure to get a lean cut of pork for the filet, and nitrate-free bacon.ย
This recipe is made using the Ninja Foodi all-in-one air fryer and pressure cooker multi cooker.ย but it can easily be adapted to any air fryer.ย Enjoy the convenience of your multi-cooker or the simplicity of a standalone air fryer.
How to Cook Bacon Wrapped Pork Filet in an Air Fryer
First, preheat the Foodi, or other air fryer to 400 degrees F for 3-5 minutes. To do this, select the air crisp function, set the temperature to 400 degrees, set the time for 5 minutes, and press start.
While the air fryer preheats, prepare the pork tenderloin. Pat the pork dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture before wrapping it with bacon.
Then season with salt and black pepper to taste. Feel free to customize with garlic powder, or onion powder if you prefer a ton of flavor.ย
Next, lay out the strips of bacon on a cutting board in a single layer. Try to minimize overlap, as this can prevent the bacon from cooking evenly and crisping properly.
Then place the pork tenderloin onto the bacon and wrap each slice around the filet.
Once you’ve rolled the pork filet in the bacon, secure the ends with toothpicks or kitchen twine to maintain its shape during cooking. Bacon shrinks as it cooks and may curl up if not secured in place.
Next, lightly spray your air fryer basket with cooking oil before adding the bacon-wrapped pork filet. However, this step is optional as the bacon fat will naturally render during cooking, helping to prevent sticking.
Then, carefully place the air fryer bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin in the preheated air fryer basket. If the filet is too large to fit comfortably, consider cutting it in half.
Before starting the cook time grab a basting brush and raw honey to baste the pork.
Gently baste the filet with honey to coat the bacon.
How Long to Cook Bacon Wrapped Pork Filet in the Air Fryer
Set the cooking time for 20-25 minutes and press start. Every 5 minutes or so, drizzle a bit more honey over the pork. As the honey melts and the bacon cooks, it will create a delicious glaze. At the halfway point of cooking, use silicone tongs to carefully flip the tenderloin over for even cooking.
Make sure to apply honey to the other side of the pork once flipped over.
Before removing the air fryer bacon wrapped pork tenderloin from the crisper basket use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The safe internal temperature for cooking pork is 145ยฐF (63ยฐC).
When the internal temperature has reached 145, and the bacon is cooked and crispy remove the pork loin from the air fryer and let the meat rest.ย Ideally, you should let the pork filet rest for about 10-15 minutes before slicing.ย This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful pork.
Make sure to remove the toothpicks from the cooked pork before serving.
