How to Create the Perfect Gray Painted Buffet with Tissue
Painted Furniture – Create the Perfect Gray Painted Buffet with Tissue. Extra long Gray painted sideboard with surprise decoupage drawer fronts.Â
Gray Painted Buffet with Decoupaged Drawers
Just when I started to think that I could fit anything in the back of my truck, I stumbled across this. This oversized vintage buffet server was extremely yellow in its original finish. It was almost difficult to see past the yellowness of the unfinished buffet. But the entire extra long buffet is solid wood, with all of the original hardware intact. Therefore it was well worth the trip to Brooklyn to pick it up, even if it was so long that it stuck out of the back of my truck. Â
The Before – Vintage Unfinished Buffet Server
The details on this vintage buffet are truly amazing. It features dovetail drawers, as well as an abundance of drawers for storage.Â
The Process – Gray Painted Buffet
I have customers who love gray painted furniture and I’m glad because gray has become one of my favorite colors as well. This vintage buffet was claimed for custom in a dark gray with blue undertones. This color is amazing! You can find great quality furniture paint online HERE. An added bonus, when painting furniture, you want to make sure to use a quality non-toxic furniture paint.Â
The entire oversized buffet is painted in this rich dark gray.

The entire painted buffet server was also distressed just enough to enhance all the details of the piece, and since the original finish was lighter than the paint color the distressing worked wonderfully.Â
The Hardware – Painting Vintage Hardware
We chose to keep the original hardware since it suits the piece perfectly. The hardware was cleaned of its original finish and painted silver using a light gray paint base then metallic silver. This is my step by step process to clean, prep & paint hardware.Â
The Drawers – Decoupaged Drawers
To add just an extra bit of wow factor, the drawers behind the center doors were given an added touch. When you are considering dining room buffet ideas you should consider decoupage drawer fronts on your painted sideboard when possible. Once opened the center drawers have been decoupaged with a vintage butterfly print.
The Result – Gray Painted Buffet with Decoupaged Drawers
This gray buffet is transformed from Brooklyn to beautiful with butterfly drawers.
