When buying bacon try to find nitrate-free pork bacon. I like the Applegate Organics brand. They also have one with no sugar added that is Whole 30 compliant. You should be able to find some at your local grocery store, but if not, you can also order online here: organic bacon. I’m sure you can also try cooking turkey bacon, but I have yet to try that so I can’t offer advice on it.
You can also order great cuts of meat, including beef, pork, chicken, and bacon from small farms online here: Crowd Cow.
Ninja Foodi
We have this Ninja Foodi, and love it! The Ninja Foodi can be found online here: Ninja Foodi. You can also find different models and sizes of the Foodi with different capabilities online here: Ninja. For making air fryer bacon, make sure to get a Foodi with the air crisp function.
The Ninja Foodi is amazing! It is a countertop appliance that does so many things. It’s a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker, slow cooker, air fryer, dehydrator, and more all in one. It makes meal prep a breeze and last minute cooking ideas easy. There is also a video review of the Foodi at the bottom of this pulled pork recipe.
How to Cook Bacon in a Ninja Air Fryer
The Ninja Foodi comes with a few different insert or accessories, like an air fryer basket, and a wire rack. It may seem confusing to decide which is the right thing to use when making bacon in the Ninja Foodi.
With that, when you want to know how to cook bacon in the Ninja Foodi I’m sure there may be a few ways. This is my way.
You may think that it would be best to use this silver rack with the rack towards the top of the pot. To be honest, this is how I used to cook bacon in the Ninja Foodi. But I have an even easier way!
Since we are using the air fryer option of the Foodi you do not need to add water to the bottom of the pot.
When cooking the bacon in the Ninja Foodi, if you use the silver rack you would have to carefully lay the raw bacon slices across the rack.
But this method is even better. Instead, go ahead and separate your strips of bacon, then loosely place them in the air fryer crisper basket. Don’t worry about keeping the slices of bacon in a single layer, no careful placement is necessary.
Ninja Air Fryer Bacon Settings
Place the air fryer basket with the bacon strips into the Ninja Foodi and turn the Foodi on.
Next, select the ‘air crisp’ function, and set the temperature to 390 degrees F.
Curious as to how long to cook bacon in Ninja air fryer? Set the cooking time for 16 minutes.
Close the lid, press start, and let the Foodi do its thing.
When cooking bacon in the Ninja Foodi, since we are using the air crisp function and not the pressure cook function, we don’t have to wait for the Foodi to come to pressure. We are also able to lift the lid at any time to check on the bacon.
Roughly, every 4 minutes lift the lid and give your bacon a quick toss with silicone tongs. You don’t want to use tongs made of metal because you may scratch your foodi basket.
Because we are tossing the bacon every few minutes you can cook an entire package of bacon all at once using this method.
After a few tosses and 16 minutes, your bacon will be cooked to perfection.
Ninja Air Fryer Bacon
Granted, everyone prefers a different level of doneness or crispness when it comes to perfect bacon. This air fryer bacon recipe will leave your bacon just right. Not soft and fatty and not overdone either. If you prefer well-done extra crispy bacon, then I’d leave it another minute or two – but keep an eye on it.
We love our Ninja Foodi bacon with eggs in the morning. But you can add bacon to any side dish.
Bacon in the Ninja Air Fryer – Clean Up
When cooking bacon in a Ninja air fryer this way the bacon grease falls through the basket to the pot leaving your bacon perfectly crispy. Thus eliminating the need to spread the cooked bacon out on paper towels to absorb the grease. This is just another great thing about cooking bacon in the Ninja Foodi.
Next time you plan to cook perfectly crispy bacon make sure to use the Ninja Foodi air fryer basket. With just 16 minutes of cook time your bacon strips are cooked to perfection with less mess and easy clean up. You can save the bacon grease to use as a cooking fat later. This cute ceramic bacon grease container is perfect! Bacon Grease Container.
