How to Make Air Fried Bacon in the Ninja Foodi
As always, let’s start by gathering our ingredients. In this case our ingredients are so simple. Bacon! When buying bacon try to find some that is nitrate free. I like the Applegate Organics brand. They also have one with no sugar added that is Whole 30 compliant. You should be able to find some at your local grocer, but if not you can also order online here: organic bacon.
How to Cook Bacon in Ninja Foodi (Air Fryer)
Now it’s time to break out the Ninja Foodi. This thing is amazing! It is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, air fryer, dehydrator, and more all in one. It makes meal prep a breeze and last minute cooking ideas easy. If you don’t have one yet you can get it online here: Ninja Foodi. There is also a video review of the Foodi at the bottom of this pulled pork recipe.
Which Ninja Foodi Accessory to Use
When you want to know how to cook bacon in the Ninja Foodi I’m sure there may be a few ways. This is my way. You may think that it would be best to use this silver rack with the rack towards the top of the pot. To be honest, this is how I used to cook bacon in the Ninja Foodi. But I have an even easier way!
Since we are using the air fryer option of the Foodi you do not need to add water to the bottom of the pot. When cooking the bacon in the Ninja Foodi, if you use the silver rack you would have to carefully lay the bacon slices across the rack. But this method is even better. Instead, go ahead separate your bacon strips and loosely place them in the air fryer basket. No careful placement necessary.
Cooking Bacon in the Ninja Foodi
Place the basket into the Ninja Foodi and turn the Foodi on. Next, select the ‘air crisp’ function, set the temp at 390 and set the time for 16 minutes.
Close the lid and let the foodi do its thing. When cooking bacon in the Ninja Foodi, since we are using the air crisp function and not the pressure cook function, we don’t have to wait for the Foodi to come to pressure. We are also able to lift the lid at any time to check on out bacon.
Roughly, even 4 minutes lift the lid and give your bacon a quick toss with silicone tongs. You don’t want to use metal utensils because you may scratch your foodi basket.
After a few tosses and 16 minutes your bacon will be cooked to perfection.
Air Fryer Bacon
Granted, everyone prefers a different level of cooked when it comes to bacon in air fryer. This air fryer bacon recipe will leave your bacon just right. Not soft and fatty and not overdone either. If you prefer well done bacon, then Id leave it another minute or two – but keep an eye on it.
We live our Ninja Foodi bacon with eggs in the morning. But you can add bacon to any side dish.
One more thing that is great about cooking bacon in the Ninja Foodi is that the bacon doesn’t sit in the grease while it cooks, like it would if cooked on the stovetop in a skillet. The grease drips through the basket leaving your bacon tasting like bacon and not like grease.
