- 3 ripe bananas
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups almond flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (plus extra for the tops of the muffins)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

How to Make Healthy Banana Muffins with Applesauce
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Then in a medium bowl mash the bananas using the back of a fork, or a potato masher.
Next, add the applesauce to the mashed bananas.
Then add the eggs, vanilla extract, and maple syrup to the banana applesauce mixture. Mix and set aside.
In a separate large bowl add the almond flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine.
Then pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir to combine.
Then fold in the choc chips and chopped nuts.
How Long to Bake Banana Muffins with Applesauce
Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
Fill the prepared muffin cups with equal portions of muffin batter. I like to use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to ensure equal amounts of the batter for each muffin. Add a few extra choc chips to the tops of the muffins.
Muffin Baking Time:
Bake for 18-20 minutes until slightly golden brown and the muffins pass the toothpick test. Remove the muffin pan from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
Carefully remove the muffins from the pan and allow them to cool.
