Custom Mixed Charcoal Painted Rocking Chair

I was lucky enough to be contacted by someone with a warehouse full of furniture. This person had owned an eight-family apartment building, and when they sold it they stored all of the furniture in a warehouse for the time being. Now it was time for them to empty out the warehouse. Lucky me!

The Before – Unfinished Vintage Rocking Chair

I made my way to the warehouse knowing full well that I, myself have limited space in my inventory, so I needed to choose wisely. This rocking chair was one of my picks. The best part – no spindles! Click here for more painted rocking chair makeovers: Rocking chairs.

The Project – Painting a Vintage Rocking Chair

The rocking chair was claimed for custom right away and she requested a very dark charcoal gray. I use black and gray chalk type paint to mix my own custom charcoal. I literally drizzled gray into black and mixed until I achieved a perfect custom mixed charcoal. You can find great quality furniture paint and stain online HERE. An added bonus, when painting furniture, you want to make sure to use a quality non-toxic furniture paint.

The rocker was then hand painted with two coats, lightly distressed and sealed with a clear matte sealer for a clean classic look.

The Result – Charcoal Painted Rocking Chair

Charcoal is a classic and timeless color, and again YAY for no spindles.

Also saved from this same warehouse was a chunky Painted Accent Table and Vintage China Cabinet.
