Toasted Almond Sofa Table with Stenciled Drawers

I’m not quite sure why, but when it came time to name this piece I thought of food. The first and only thing to come to mind were toasted almonds for this sofa table. It came to the shop in nice shape, very plain, nothing fancy or striking about it …. aside from those gorgeous curvy legs!Toasted Almond Sofa Table with Stenciled Drawers

Personally, I am NOT a fan of these hardware pulls and wanted to replace them. So I actually searched and found new hardware before deciding on colors, design, finish or anything else for that matter. I guess you could say that I worked backward on this one. I narrowed it down and chose these very pretty new pulls with an antique copper almost bronze finish. They have a pretty vintage look to them. I didn’t want to get super modern hardware but definitely wanted to replace the originals. These are perfect!Ornate hardware pullsNext, I decided to keep things neutral and went with a creamy almond base and legs. I also added a surprise stencil design on the outer sides of the drawers in bronze to compliment the hardware and the velvet lining inside the drawers. For a more detailed tutorial on adding stencils to your painted furniture makeovers make sure to check out How to Stencil Painted Furniture. I adore the look of a dark stain top, I think it looks very classy so I sanded the top and applied a fresh stain. The stain is actually a mix of different shades of browns giving an appearance of toasted almonds! The stain actually brought out the amazing wood grain that was barely noticeable in its original condition. The rich coloring of the stained top with the creamy body of the sofa table make such a perfect pairing.Toasted Almond Sofa Table with Stenciled Drawers

The hardest part was waiting for the new hardware to arrive. But once it came I was finally able to photo this beauty.Toasted Almond Sofa Table with Stenciled Drawers

The new pulls have such pretty details and work beautifully with the table’s style.

  1. What beautiful sofa table makeover. Loving the color you painted it, especially with the dark stained top. But the stenciled drawers are the icing on the cake! I’ve pinned it in our DIY Sunday Showcase Talent Board.

  2. Hi Kandice!
I just love this sofa table makeover! It’s beautiful! I have one very similar and I’m looking to spruce it up. I’ve already purchased the same hardware and I’m ready to purchase the paint but not sure how much I’ll need……32oz? Should I sand the legs? As for the top, I think I’m going to leave mine as is. It already has two tones (dark in the middle and lighter edge). This kind of project is very new to me. :/

    1. hi! If you are only going to be painting the table then you dont need 32oz, you can get away with a smaller amount. I would lightly sand and clean the legs first (white vinegar and water) then wipe with a clean damp cloth. Let me know if you have any questions

  3. Hi kandice, I have the exact same table I would like to do something similar. I love the dark stained top, I was wondering what all you used for that?

    Thank you, Mayra

    1. thank you!! Id use chestnut for the top, and if you want it darker then Id add teak. 🙂 If you search chestnut and teak on my website you find more examples of those wood stains 🙂
