Smoothies are all the rage lately, or at least they are in my house. I enjoy a smoothie at least once a day since I started clean eating and focusing on healthy eating.
Smoothies satisfy the sweets cravings and keep me full until my next meal. I normally have a smoothie as a snack in between meals, but I also love having the option to have a smoothie as a meal when on the go.

Of all the mixed berry smoothie recipes I love this one because it combines both fresh and frozen berries and my favorite protein powder. This mixed berry smoothie recipe also makes a great protein breakfast smoothie for when you are on the go. For example, I had a morning appointment the other day after the gym so I made myself this delicious frozen berry smoothie and poured it into my Yeti tumbler. The Yeti keeps drinks super cold or hot for a very long time. I left my smoothie in the car while I went into the gym to work out. When I came out of the gym my mixed berry protein smoothie was perfectly cold and delicious. I drank my tasty healthy breakfast smoothie on the way to my appointment without having to feel like I missed a meal.
Steps to Make Your Breakfast Protein Smoothie
Gather your simple ingredients.
Add the frozen berries, ripe banana, fresh berries, protein powder, yogurt, and water (or almond milk) for your mixed berry protein smoothie together in a high powered blender.
Mix at highest speed for thirty seconds.
Check the texture of the smoothie. If your berry breakfast protein smoothie is too thick and you prefer a thinner smoothie, add more water, or almond milk and blend again until thoroughly blended. If you are using almond milk, make sure to go with the unsweetened kind to keep things healthier.
Your berry protein smoothie texture should be thick but thin enough to drink through a straw. You want a delicious creamy smoothie. If you add more ice you can make this mixed berries smoothie thick enough to make a smoothie bowl.
Serve this simple berry smoothie cold and enjoy!

FAQs and Recipe Variations

- Can I eliminate the protein powder? Of course, if you want to skip the extra protein you absolutely can.
- Can I add nut butter to this healthy berry smoothie? Sure, go ahead and add a Tbsp of peanut butter, almond butter, or even cashew butter. These are all great healthy fats to add to this healthy snack.
- How can I add extra fiber to my smoothie? Either chia seeds or flax seeds are a great option to add fiber to the fruit smoothie.
- What if I don’t like almond milk? You can always swap out unsweetened almond milk for soy milk, oat milk, or another plant-based milk. You can even use whole milk or skim milk if you like.
