Do You like to Paint Spindles?
Do you hate to paint spindles? If you answer NO to this question, then we can be friends! The worst part of painting chairs are the spindles. If they don’t have spindles, then they aren’t too bad. So when my customer told me that her husband wanted his grandmother’s rocking chair painted, I cringed just for a second. When he told me that he wanted it distressed black it made it all ok, since black distressed is my all time favorite.

Shades of Gray Desk
This vintage desk, originally made by Stanley furniture had been stashed away in my customer’s attic for some time. Abandoned and dusty it’s time for it to come out and get a makeover in shades of gray! Every single shade of gray is used for this makeover. When you can’t choose one color why not use them all for a custom gray desk. Continue reading Shades of Gray Painted Desk
Vintage Painted Turquoise Desk with Gray Washed Top
This vintage desk had been sitting in my inventory for around a year. It’s gorgeous with a combination of robust curves and sleek lines. There were many inquiries for it, but the size was never right. While waiting for my next custom piece to be dropped off I decided to pull this desk from inventory for a makeover. Initially, I was thinking neutral, maybe a light chestnut stain on top with off white body and pearl glaze. Something soft and feminine. But you know how that goes.. plans change.

Farmhouse Style Fall Decor for the Home
Last week I ran to Home Depot with the kids to grab travertine tiles to make decoupaged coasters. Somehow, once we were inside the kids managed to drag me straight to the Halloween display. The store has those giant blow up lawn decorations, light up decorations, and things that jump out at you. A giant spider with a motion sensor, for example, jumped at me when I got too close. The girl at the register laughed when I screamed – yes I actually screamed! Any who.. they also have adorable fall pillows. Of course, just like the grocery store, when you go in for one thing, you leave with so much more. I left with this Give Thanks pillow, because, well, why not?
As it turned out this pillow was the perfect accessory for staging a ladder back chair that I had just finished. The ladder back chair painted distressed black can be seen HERE.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for Fall. Bring on pumpkin spice everything and apple cider donuts! I’ve gathered a combination of fall decor mixed in with other farmhouse style decor items for the home to share this week.
Everyone loves a cozy pillow, and these are under $5!
Lanterns are the perfect decor item. In the Fall you can fill them with small/faux pumpkins and gourds. In the winter -ornaments. In the Summer- seashells.
Bring on the pumpkins!
