Custom Mixed Vintage Painted Blue Buffet

This midnight blue buffet may look slightly familiar because it was finished with the same techniques used on a previous blue buffet that I had done. You can see that inspiration piece here.  As it turned out my customer loved the prior piece, but she stumbled upon it just as it sold and was shipped off to Connecticut.  So I began my hunt to find another vintage buffet similar to the other to customize for her.

Swoon Worthy Furniture in the Catskills

Hey all!  This past weekend we packed the kids and the truck and headed up to the Catskills.  We actually have a little cabin there that we purchased a few years ago from two hunters.  It was the exact thing that you would imagine if you tried to picture a “hunter’s cabin”.  So what does this have to do with furniture? Well, this post is only a little about furniture and a little about family. I hope you don’t mind me veering off the normal course of things.Catskills Cabin getaway with Just the Woods Continue reading Swoon Worthy Furniture in the Catskills

The Thin Blue Line

I am pleased to say that I’ve completed another set of custom thin blue line tables. I’ve explained in a previous post the significance of the thin blue line and its meaning.  You can find that info here.  These tables have actually been in my inventory for quite some time, they are solid wood, originally made by Brandt with the markings and label still visible  on the underside. They were also pretty beaten up, which is most likely why no one has claimed them until now. Thin Blue Line Tables by Just the Woods Continue reading Giving Back – Thin Blue Line End Tables

Fab Furniture Flippin Contest

FFFC Graphic

I’m so excited for another Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest!  Its been a couple of months since I participated in one and when I heard that this month was being sponsored by Pure & Original Paint I couldn’t wait to jump in and give it a try.  logo

Pure and Original is an economically friendly paint (and you guys know how I love to paint safe), made with all natural pigments and so many soft colors to choose from.

The theme of the contest is “Pure Colors, Original Elegance”.  I figured what color would better represent elegance than lavender!

Rags to Riches Vintage Desk Makeover

Vintage Desk Makeover

I received a phone call from a previous customer (and previous coworker) about a vintage desk makeover.

  • Lisa: “Kandice, we are heading to Staten Island (from Long Island) to visit family, and I want you to refinish a desk for me.
  • Me: “ok, do you have a photo? Send me a picture so I can see it”
  • Lisa: “No. It’s in the truck and I’m bringing it to you now”
  • me: “What?!”
  • Lisa: “See you soon”

Without even a chance to check my calendar to see what I have scheduled because you know my life is all written in a flimsy black planner book. If it’s not written in that planner it simply doesn’t exist. Within the hour she pulled up and pulled this beat up old vintage desk from her vehicle. It was a mess and I loved it. vintage-painted-desk, new york, staten island, painted furniture Continue reading Rags to Riches Vintage Desk Makeover
