Reasons for My Dirty Kitchen
I can tell you a few things, for starters, my husband does a lot of the cooking in our home. He is a great cook but doesn’t clean up the stove much once finished. My kids also tend to leave a trail of crumbs everywhere they go. And like to climb and stand on the counters to reach items in the cabinets. This leaves me constantly wiping the counters and the stove, as well as sweeping the floors. Not to mention the sink, we have a garbage disposal so food is thrown into the sink and I guess they assume that it will find its way into the garbage disposal. Um, which means I come along and clean the sink and get the food down the drain, etc. Im sure you get the idea. There has to be an easier way. I also have a super cute Kitchen Cleaning checklist that you can download and print for yourself HERE
HomeRight Steam Machine for a Clean Kitchen
I decided that my HomeRight steam machine is the perfect little tool for cleaning the kitchen. I love that the steam machine comes with so many attachments to take on any job!
Setting up the steamer is super easy too. Once all parts are out of the box I grab the brass attachment brush and attach to the nozzle and fill the tank with water using the funnel provided.
Press the power button, both lights will light up while the steam machine heats up. Once the orange light turns off the machine is ready. Easy peasy.
Tackling Cleaning the Oven
Don’t judge my dirty oven, please. Our lazy method has always been throwing the oven on self-clean and hope for the best. This is the current state of the stovetop after making eggs for breakfast. I’m sure there is evidence of last nights dinner there as well. That’s one thing about black appliances I suppose, is that they show every little thing. But nevertheless, I love them anyway.
Here is the inside of the oven door.
Using the brass brush attachment I give the stovetop and oven a good cleaning.
Here is a video to see the HomeRight steam machine in action cleaning the stove and oven.

The beauty of this is there are no harsh chemicals! Being able to get a clean kitchen with steam is a great thing!
Sanitizing Countertops
Let’s face it, the countertops probably get the most action in the kitchen. Between the kids climbing on them, food prep and everything else they are constantly being touched. I constantly find myself wiping down the counters just to clean off the crumbs that they leave behind. I swear they are worse than Hansel & Gretel. So, I wouldn’t necessarily say that my counters are dirty, but I would like to think they could use a good sanitizing since we also conduct food prep for our meals on them. And sanitizing can never hurt. With a quick change of an attachment, the counters are up next.
This video shows how easy sanitizing the counters is when cleaning the kitchen. Real life, no fancy models here lol. In this video I show you how to change attachment pieces.
And the sink.
Steam Cleaning Kitchen Floors
Why not keep on moving through the kitchen cleaning process and do the floors. Like I mentioned I have two young kids and no dog. So you can only imagine how often I sweep the floors in here, especially after meals. I swear my kids are part wild animals when it comes to eating, and it seems like more food hits the floor than their mouths. Time for another nifty attachment change. This time I added the extenders and the floor attachment.
After a quick scrubbing, you can even add the soft cloth attachment right over the floor brush. Simply wrap and clip the cloth and you’re all set.
Again, here is a video of the steam machine in action.
There you have it. One machine to help you get a clean kitchen in half the time, with less effort and no chemicals. At least until the next meal, where I will have to start all over again. lol
Quick Tips for Using the HomeRight Steam Machine
- the small attachments are easily stored in the storage compartment of the steamer
- be careful not to burn yourself, steam is HOT
- switch the nozzle to LOCK when changing attachments while the machine ON
- note: the knob to add water locks when in use. If you try to open to add more water while the machine is on and hot, the knob will spin and NOT open until the machine has cooled for safety reasons.
- once finished, make sure to empty the water from the machine. do not store with water inside

Love this! I have a steam cleaner, actually 2. Both of them leave a lot wetness behind when I mop. Do you have to go back over the floors to dry them after like I do? One of my steamers is a steam mop and the other is a McCullough. Steam cleaning is awesome!
Shannon
I found that the floors were dry almost immediately. I definitely did not have to wipe them after using the steam machine.
