What You Need to Make This Creamy Strawberry Banana Chocolate Smoothie
To make this chocolate strawberry banana smoothie recipe you will need just a few simple ingredients that you can easily find at your local grocery store.
- 1 cup strawberries
- 2 cups plain almond milk
- 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ripe banana
- optional – 1 serving chocolate protein powder
For this smoothie recipe, you can use either fresh or frozen sweet strawberries. The plus side to using frozen fruit is that you won’t need to add any ice cubes, whereas the plus side to using fresh fruit is that the flavor tends to be more intense or fresh. The same goes for the banana, you can use a fresh banana or pre-slice a banana, freeze it, and use frozen bananas. This comes down to personal preference and what is in season at the time.

When it comes to almond milk, I prefer plain unsweetened almond milk, but you can use unsweetened chocolate almond milk or even any non-dairy milk of your choice. Cashew milk is an easy swapย for almond milk. This is my favorite almond milk.
You will also need a high speed blender. I have this Vitamix blender, and I love it. It is great for making healthy smoothies, and so much more. It’s available online here: Vitamix Blender. There are also many different blenders available online for different price ranges, and abilities. You can find thoseย here: Blenders.ย
How to Make a Strawberry Chocolate Banana Smoothie
First, pour the almond milk into the blender. When making fruit smoothies you always want to add the liquid first to avoid clumping. If you don’t like almond milk you are free to use any dairy-free milk of your choice. You can opt for coconut milk or oat milk.
Next, add the strawberries. When it isn’t strawberry season then frozen is always available in the frozen section of the grocery store.
Then add the banana to the blender.
Add the raw cacao. If you don’t have cacao you can use unsweetened cocoa powder.
Followed by the vanilla extract.
If you want the option to make this a chocolate strawberry banana protein smoothie you can add a scoop of your favorite protein powderย as well. This is one of the clean protein powders that we like to use: protein powder.ย
Blend for about 30 seconds or until smooth, and pour into a tall glass.
