Cherry Chocolate Smoothie Recipe – Easy and Healthy
This cherry chocolate smoothie recipe is bursting with cherry flavor and is one of my favorite smoothie recipes.
Made with raw cacao powder and frozen dark sweet cherries you never have to worry about whether or not it’s cherry season. This chocolate cherry smoothie recipe is made with simple ingredients and is both gluten-free and dairy-free, making it a healthy breakfast option.
Keeping a few favorite breakfast smoothie recipes on hand makes it easy to make healthy choices when you are short on time.
You will love this cherry chocolate smoothie because of its dark chocolate flavor, healthy ingredients, and natural sweetness.
What You Need to Make a Cherry Chocolate Smoothie
To make this delicious cherry cacao smoothie recipe you will need just a handful of simple ingredients.
- 3/4 cup frozen dark sweet cherries (105g)
- 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder (10g)
- 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup (30g)
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (8oz)
- a few ice cubes
- optional – 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
You can use fresh cherries if they are in season, but you have to be sure to remove the pits. I prefer frozen cherries for this easy smoothie recipe because they are always available in the frozen section of the grocery store. Another benefit to using frozen fruit in smoothies is that you can use less ice when you use frozen fruit.
If you do not have almond milk you can use any non-dairy milk, like oat milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk for this delicious smoothie.

You will also need a high-speed blender. I have this Vitamix blender, and I love it. It’s available online here: Vitamix Blender. There are also many different blenders available online for different price ranges, and abilities. You can find those here: Blenders.Â
How to Make a Cherry Chocolate Smoothie
First, pour the almond milk into the blender, or whichever kind of milk you are using. When making smoothies you always want to start with the liquid to avoid clumping.
Next, add the cherries to the blender.
Then the cacao powder. If you don’t have cacao powder, you can find it online here: cacao. Or you can use unsweetened cocoa powder.Â
Add the maple syrup and a few ice cubes to the blender.
If you are looking for a protein boost you can add your favorite chocolate protein powder now too. Lately, we have liked this protein powder because of its simple clean ingredients. You can find it online here: protein powder.Â
Blend for about 30 seconds or until smooth and pour into a tall glass.
